Anyone use Dr Jeffery Hannon??? Mobile, Al

I am scheduled to go to the begin class & to see Dr Hannon on July 31, 2008.  Can anyone tell me what they do in the Begin class.  My paper work is not real specific about that.  It says that the Dr will schedule the surgery for about a month after you do the begin class.  I have a few problems with that!  I have a cruise scheduled for 10/11/08, I am disabled & medicare become effective in October which means Medicare becomes my primary insurance & I will have to wait to see if they approve me.  I want enough time to get over the problems right after surgery.  My surgery is a reconstruction & they have to do the surgery open.  Can someone tell me how long after the surgery before I will be able to eat solid food?  My previous surgery was about 30 years ago & I have forgotten a lot of the quirks.  Plus the surgical techniques have changed a lot.  If you can't tell I am getting a little nervous.  Any advice or info will be greatly appreciated.

Cynthia is out of town but maybe Connie will duck in to give some help. They both went to the Begin class but had surgery with Dr. Weinstein.. who is very good.
Medicare usually takes about 2-3 weeks to approve as long as all your ducks are in a row.
It does usually also take a month after the Begin class so I'm not sure you will be able to speed it up any as it will be then that they submit the paperwork to the insurance company.

Every surgeon is different, but I believe with this surgeon you should be eating solid food at 3-4 weeks out.
I know some of the ones who took the Begin class should be able to help you more.
I live in Gulf Shores and I Had my surgery at Providence.
I've heard great things about Dr. Hannon and his group and I know you are in good hands.
